Two Paptic Solutions in the Uusi Puu / New Wood 2025 Finals – One Voted Public Favourite
Paptic was proudly featured in two separate entries in the Uusi Puu 2025 (New Wood) competition – one of which was voted the Public Favourite.
Public Favourite: Bio-ink made from coffee waste + Paptic® bag
The public favourite was a shopping bag made of Paptic® material, printed with a water-based bio-ink from by-products from Meira Oy’s coffee production. The ink was developed by Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) and Natural Indigo Finland.
Instead of being incinerated for biogas, the by-products of coffee production were processed into a natural brown pigment and turned into a bio-based powder ink. In this solution, both the Paptic® material and the print are renewable.
Many thanks to our partners Meira Oy, Natural Indigo Finland, and Tampere University of Applied Sciences for their collaboration.
Finalist: Paptic’s hygiene wrap solution

Paptic’s own innovation, a fibre-based wrapping solution for hygiene products, was selected by the jury as one of the eight finalists. The material offers a renewable and high-performing alternative to plastic films used in hygiene packaging, combining softness, discretion, durability and environmental sustainability.
These are qualities that consumers value. In a 2025 consumer study conducted by Paptic, over 80% of respondents said that the feel and sound of packaging influenced their overall impression of a hygiene product. More than 70% expected such packaging to be both discreet and environmentally sustainable.
