“We’re excited to bring back this sustainable gift solution for Jacob’s Creek Double Barrel Shiraz. The Paptic® bag combines premium design with environmental responsibility — perfect for holiday gifting,” says Heini Mikkonen, Business Manager, Wines from Hartwall Oy.

Unlike traditional cardboard boxes, the recyclable Paptic® gift bag is lightweight, durable, and resists moisture, so there’s no need for extra wrapping or carry bags. It meets modern consumer expectations for environmentally sustainable, convenient packaging while also communicating the quality of the wine inside.

The bag design, created by Packdesign ID, features customised visuals and special print effects. The packaging stands out on the shelf and aligns visually with the Jacob’s Creek brand.

“Our goal is to help brands communicate their values through packaging. With Paptic® material, we can design solutions that are both visually distinctive and environmentally sustainable. This gift bag speaks the same visual language as the Jacob’s Creek bottle inside; it is clearly communicating the quality of the wine. It’s always rewarding to create packaging that looks great on the shelf and supports circularity,” comments Maija Olkkonen-Seppo, CEO of Packdesign ID.

Paptic® materials are Designed for Circularity

Made from wood-fibre-based Paptic®, the gift bag uses 30% less material compared to conventional cardboard boxes. The material combines strength and flexibility, making it ideal for reusable packaging.

The bag is recyclable in existing fibre-based streams, ensuring ease of disposal for the consumer. Its durability and recyclability make it a future-proof choice for brands aiming to reduce environmental impact without compromising quality.

“It’s exciting to see Jacob’s Creek wines presented once again in Paptic® gift bags. This collaboration showcases how sustainable materials and strong design come together to create packaging that performs, both on the shelf and for the environment,” says Esa Torniainen, Chief Strategy Officer at Paptic Ltd.

Packaging That Reflects Today’s Values and Tomorrow’s Requirements

Consumers today expect more from packaging, not just good looks but a smaller environmental impact too. The Paptic® gift bag helps to meet both expectations: a packaging that stands out and aligns with responsible choices.

Originally developed as an alternative to plastic in flexible packaging, Paptic® materials are designed to meet modern demands: durability, recyclability, and ability to deliver brand impact.

As the EU’s proposed Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) moves forward, placing stricter requirements on recyclability, reusability and material efficiency, solutions like Paptic® are already positioned to meet the standards of tomorrow. The Jacob’s Creek gift bag is a timely example of how packaging can be both regulation-ready and consumer-friendly.
