Nikon chooses Paptic® material for repair and return transit bags
Nikon has selected Paptic® material as the inner transit bag material for camera and lenses in its European repair and returns service. The fibre-based, widely recyclable material replaces the plastic bags previously used. Nikon has now been using Paptic bags in this application for over a year. The change supports their goal of improving packaging sustainability without compromising on product protection.
The chosen 40 gsm grade offers a balance of softness, no odour and a non-abrasive surface, helping to protect delicate parts such as rubber elements and lenses from scratches during handling and transport. These properties make Paptic® an ideal choice for items with sensitive surfaces.
The strength and flexibility of the material means it performs well at 40gsm, making it possible to reduce material use without compromising protection. This helps reduce environmental impact and supports compliance with tightening packaging requirements.

Packaging that meets today’s values and tomorrow’s requirements
Today’s consumers expect more from packaging than before. It should work well, protect the product, and reflect environmentally responsible choices. Paptic® materials have been developed to meet this need. They are durable, recyclable at scale, and support a high-quality brand experience.
With the upcoming EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) introducing stricter rules around recyclability, reuse, and material efficiency, Paptic® is already in line with what’s ahead. It provides companies with a practical alternative to plastic in flexible packaging that supports long-term sustainability goals.
“It’s great to see the unique combination of functionality and sustainability in our materials being recognised by globally respected brands like Nikon. By choosing Paptic® material to replace plastic, they’re making an environmentally responsible choice that also helps them to be ready for future packaging requirements.”
