We wanted to trial a recyclable material that supports our ESG commitments by contributing to plastic waste reduction while at the same time enhancing our customer experience – A catch-up with Liz Grierson
As sustainable practices in e-commerce take the spotlight, packaging plays a crucial role in reducing environmental impact. We caught up with Liz Grierson, Packaging Quality Manager at N Brown, to discuss their sustainability efforts and recent choice of Paptic® materials to compliment their new Simply Be + Twisted Wunder limited edition launch. The Paptic® packaging is being trialled as a garment & dispatch sack packaging alternative.
Can you provide a brief overview of your company and the range of products you offer?
Liz: We’re a clothing and footwear digital retailer with a vision that by championing inclusion, we’ll become the most loved and trusted retailer. Through our brands, including JD Williams, Simply Be and Jacamo, we serve customers of all shapes, sizes, and ages. We’re headquartered in Manchester, UK. We design, source, and create many of our own products.
For our Simply Be collaboration with Twisted Wunder, we wanted to try something special, so we considered the packaging design, which not only protects the product but communicates the brand identity and personality to consumers. Using colours, typography, imagery, and messaging packaging conveys an emotional connection with customers as well as educating them on the packaging end of use & materials.
From a design perspective, we worked collaboratively with our in-house designers alongside the Twisted Wunder team and Maxim designers to develop a brand-new packaging concept for Simply Be which captured the essence of Twisted Wunder with the use of their signature star print combined with the brand logos. This is a limited-edition collection, and it was so important that the beautiful pieces in the collection had equally great packaging for a more elevated, boutique look and feel.
What motivated your company to choose our materials for your ecommerece mailers?
Liz: : We decided to choose Paptic® material as it contributes to a reduction in plastic waste, can be reused & provides ease of recycling for our customers, plus elevates the customer experience from a basic outer to something unique. This was exactly what we were looking for to compliment our new limited edition collaborative brand launch.
How did you first hear about our sustainable materials?
Liz: Paptic® material came up in our discussion with our new nominated packaging provider Maxim. (https://www.maxim-group.com)
What specific qualities of our materials stood out to you compared to other options?
How does sustainability play a role in your company’s overall strategy?
Liz: Our ESG strategy is an essential part of our strategic enablers towards developing an efficient and sustainable operating model. It is critical to innovate to help us deliver on this strategy.
