Shelf-ready Gift Bags Made of Paptic® Material Boost Wine Sales

Castillo wine packaging Paptic®

Jacob’s Creeks’ wines were packaged in wine gift bags made of Paptic® material for the first time in 2021, and now also Castillo de Molina wines are packed in them. This distinctive packaging solution increased sales of the packed wines and has been successful for three consecutive years already.

“We are constantly seeking solutions to better serve today’s environmentally conscious consumers. Sustainable development is at the core of all our operations, including packaging. We are looking for material-efficient alternatives made from renewable resources without compromising on quality. This is why we chose Paptic® material for our gift packaging again”, says Kaisa Rautanen, Brand Manager at Pernod Ricard Finland.

While cardboard cases are typical for wine during the holiday season, the Paptic® gift bags offer consumers a lighter, more sustainable option, streamlining the purchase process with no need for additional bags. A solution for three different wine products was designed by Packdesign ID, featuring a single, high-quality, uniquely adorned gift bag with individualized stickers for each product. This provides flexibility and easy customization in later packaging stages in a cost-effective way.

“We are extremely pleased that Pernod Ricard Finland chooses our material for their packaging year after year and to hear how the packaging has positively influenced the sales. “It’s also great to work with Packdesign ID as they already know our material’s versatility and potential. Yet again, this is an excellent example of impactful cooperation when three like-minded companies end up around the same table” says Esa Torniainen, Chief Strategy Officer at Paptic Ltd.

With Paptic® material 30% less material is needed in the wine gift packaging

Made of wood-fibre-based and recyclable at-scale Paptic® material, the gift bag uses 30% less material compared to the commonly used cardboard case. This bag made of light yet durable Paptic® is reusable and the material withstands moisture better than traditional paper.

Designed in homage to the Castillo de Molina brand, the bag features high-quality printing with special effects, balancing cost-effectiveness. Innovatively, the Paptic® bags include paper handles and customizable paper labels for easy recycling alongside cardboard.

Recyclable at scale Paptic® materials offer a unique combination of sustainability, strength, and distinctive tactile properties. The versatile materials were developed to replace plastics in flexible packaging. In this case, it is now easy for a consumer to recycle the entire packaging in one recycling stream. The wood-fibre-based Paptic® materials are also available as FSC® certified.
